Literacy in every shack
The spring of nations in 19th century provoked a nation building across Europe. Mostly done with arms and violent conflicts, AI: The 1848 revolutions in the Austrian Empire nearly collapsed the Habsburg Monarchy through a multi-front explosion of liberal protests and ethnic nationalism. Driven by demands for civil liberties, the abolition of serfdom, and national autonomy, the uprisings played out across the empire’s diverse territories before being violently crushed by the imperial military.
AS all other EU nations have been established, The Slovenians, thousand year serfs under many Overlords of all types and ethnic origin , Stateless, reverted to a nation building by spreading Slovenian literacy . Written and spoken, to every Slovenian speaking shack.
So Slovenians knew to read and write in huge numbers, women included. If one looks at the neighbor Italians or even north, these neighbors were illiterate jerks. The situation can be compared to diaspora Jews literacy but Slovenians in WD opinion were even more educated.
The women sized the moment. Many stem families had as a back office a woman who did the accounting and managed the finances of the family and of the business.
The other outstanding result was that mostly all, women and men knew tons of Slovenian poetry by heart.
Witchdoctor was already the generation which was unable to know by heart whole tons of poems or Homer or whatever in big length.
Currently the regression is so hard, as is also elsewhere, that only ONE pupil in FIVE at primary level understands a short text or is able to write a few lines!!!! This is a certain and definite collapse of such a small Nation as is Slovenia. It was built on the united effort of poets, linguists, writers artist and the whole bunch of Slovenians, rich or poor. They have no cards left as Trump likes to say. They do not even understand the cards which are being dealt to them!
The side effect is that the culture, writers, poets, actors and artists are currently pariah and despised by the majority of Slovenian population.
The regressive backlash of the Villain Slovenian majority was the success to eliminate the pension supplement for exceptional achievements –
“Referendum on the Act on Pension Supplement for Exceptional Achievements “ which concerned few tens of artists, writers and poets and which was won by the villain Slovenian majority who forgot not only the old history of nation building but also the independence movement before year 1991 which was organized in a big part by the same intellectual class of writers and poets ! Suddenly they are treated as parasites which is the sign of the austerity mindset rooted in the populace and the neoliberal values grafted onto the stem family system.
Etymology of Villain: History (Villein): Historically, a villein (sometimes spelled villain) was a feudal serf or peasant who worked the land for a lord. Over time, the lower social status associated with these workers caused the word to take on a negative, “uncouth” meaning
So, the backlash of the Villain class which is villain regardless of social status with the overall regression of the literacy and the whole bunch of regressive cul de sac factors which Witchdoctor pointed in previous posts, shows a VERY bad outcome. The achieved women literacy and even high degree of schooling has a patriarchal regressive moment in this story:
If one takes children to the kindergarten, after goes in the bank, tax office, primary or high school, hospital, social services, supermarket, even the judicial courts, etc, one sees only or almost only WOMEN.
So the family structure with even highly educated women transposed into a State system works as if women are the caring service caste, motherly care of all the customers in the whole bunch of professions. Where are the Males? Plumber married to the female judges, electricians married to banking employees, drivers married to teachers? Apart from the finance sectors where peak positions are male, the structure of this services is even more funny: all this professions and services , all of them mostly female, have mostly male bosses!!
This patrilinear very peculiar arrangement is even more pronounced with mixed marriages with the south balcan immigration carrying the even more pronounced patriarchal values.
On the other hand the inherited socialist system which carried a positive male female equality , the social welfare also carried the structure where the communist party was above all and a leading force of the system. This was a patriarchal transposition of the wise and elderly experts in a hierarchical male patrilinear guise of how the system is constructed. The same Authoritarian mostly male modus operandi survived the crash of the communist leadership, but the model is still alive in a disguise of the State hierarchy with a huge public administration sector..
The Austria Hungarian and after the communist over normative rules and regulations of all life is another cul de sac. The populace was and it is drilled to be not auto-directed. They wait. They wait to be told how to. They wait for the regulations to show them how it is done. If a case is somewhat complex and the regulations do not fit 100% they do nothing. They wait or produce new regulation and standardization to regulate every inch of the social life. They are unable to decide. The whole sectors are in stall positions . The corruption spreads and people try any sort of shortcuts to get out of the stall position. It is another bad outcome for the rule of law and the normal progress.
The women are even more subjugated to this normativistic approach. They are afraid to take decisions and then the cases in front of the court take years if not decades. In fact it seems that they take a job but do not want to have problems on the job. Not having problems means to not decide and choose a course of action to reach resolution, decision. So, the wet dream of a public official is to have two cases on his desk in a whole career and finish them just before he goes in pension.
The point is that the society is not able to decide which rules are important and which are not. The decision goes always against the natural habitats or a green transition, especially with the Villain class in power and the illiterate non discerning populace backing always the traditional fossil or any traditional solution as the conservative mindset is asking them to. Another cul de sac.
On the other hand, there is a good number of very propulsive stem family businesses working on the global or local niche production which is handicapped by the stalled system.
How much is a stalled system planned? It is definitely to the extent where the oligarchs, local clans or networks , use the undeciding system to keep each other in a checkmate of all the parties involved which keep each other in stall position in order to prevent change or a win.
It is easy in this situation that the foreifgn powers to be, economic, financial or of any sort dictate the steering of the system. The locals are relieved of any responsability and transpose their failure to the far overlords.
The foreign Corporations , when established solidly, can profit a lot by this strange stalled system with nudges in the right places which to other small businesess is unreachable, unattainable or unachievable .
Slovenia has one of the lowest levels of income inequality in the world, with a Gini index of 24.6.
But this does not reflects what is written above. The Patrilinear principle might have a high equality index but the power structure remains male and power is a sweet compensation fo high equality especially if the decision making is almost completely a male business..
